How Often Should I Promote My Business on Social Media?

We all know that you, as a business owner, should go to social media to advertise your establishment.

Going beyond that, it’s also essential to know how often you should post. This could make or break you.

Opinions vary, but many experts agree that a business owner must focus on quality over quantity. In other words, don’t publish a post just to publish a post.

Make certain that what you post relates to your audience or your business or industry. Make certain to publish high-quality content that your followers value. Make certain your posts either help you make a sale or promote brand awareness.

Mix up the content that you publish. To engage your followers, post videos, GIFs, images, links, and polls. Post real and authentic photos that represent your products, your employees, and, last but not least, your customers.

With What Frequency Should I Post?

Every successful strategy for every social media outlet differs…widely.

Here are the best practices for each of the most well-known outlets:

Twitter: Experts recommend that you tweet one-to-three times per day. Twitter allows you to share other users’ content. When those users are happy customers then so much the better.

LinkedIn: Post on LinkedIn no more than once a day and no more than three-to-five posts per week. Post on weekdays as opposed to weekends.

YouTube: Post daily, but if that is difficult or impossible then post once a week. With YouTube Shorts, however, you can post vertical videos up to three times a day that are 60 seconds or less.

Pinterest: This social media outlet functions as a visual search engine, offering, for example, recipes and ideas for décor. Pinterest, to repeat the mantra “quality over quantity,” recommends that you post on the platform at least once a week.

TikTok: This platform recommends that you post one-to-four posts daily. Experts recommend that you create a TikTok schedule and plan your posts ahead of time. Exactly 56 percent of users connect with brands that publish unfiltered content on this platform.

Facebook: Followers on one of the oldest and most well-known of the social media outlets may get irritated if you post too often. Experts advise business owners to post between three to seven times a week. Promote events five to 10 days in advance so your followers have plenty of time to see your posts.

According to HubSpot, if you have a Facebook page with more than 10,000 followers then the number of clicks per post will increase as you increase your posting frequency. If you are a small business with a Facebook page under 10,000 followers then posting once daily is more than enough.

Instagram: If your business offers highly visual optics then, by all means, take advantage of that for Instagram. Post in-feed material no more than once a day. You may use one feature, Instagram Stories, to post short bits of content that will disappear within 24 hours. Use Instagram Stories to preview forthcoming products or even provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse of your businesses’ day-to-day tasks. You may use Instagram Reels to share short and entertaining videos. Then there’s Instagram Television (IGTV), which will allow you to post videos up to 15-minutes long from a mobile device and 60-minutes long from a computer.

Other Factors to Consider…..

Know your target demographics and also know whether you are utilizing, for your needs, the most efficient social media outlet. Know whether you are truly engaging your audience. Does your content, for example, help, relate to, and/or engage the audience?

Post too frequently, and you could inspire people…, but, on the other hand, you could also annoy them.

According to The Sprout Social Index™, 74% of consumers think one-to-two posts a day is ideal for brands.

Good luck.
